Meat Industry Undergraduate Scholarships

Closing Date: 27 Nov 2024

Open to undergraduate students at a tertiary institution who are looking to contribute their skills to the red meat sector in the future. The programme offers:

  • Undergraduate scholarships of $5,000 a year for each year of study for up to three years
  • Assistance with obtaining study related projects / vacation work experience
  • An introduction to the red meat industry networking opportunities
  • Mentoring

Meat Industry Postgraduate Scholarships

Closing Date: 27 Nov 2024

Open to postgraduate students at a tertiary institution who are looking to contribute their skills to the red meat sector in the future. The programme offers the following:
- Post-graduate scholarships of $10,000 a year for each year of study for up to two years
- Assistance with obtaining study related projects / vacation work experience

Open to students in their final year of study (fourth year Honours, or Masters) who intend on enrolling in a PhD programme.

Horticulture NZ Postgraduate Scholarship

Closing Date: 1 Dec 2024

Open to people undertaking postgraduate study in horticulture or related fields. 

Every year Horticulture New Zealand and the New Zealand Fruitgrowers Charitable Trust each offer one scholarship to a postgraduate student studying in New Zealand. These scholarships are offered to students undertaking postgraduate study because innovation and tackling challenges head-on is critical to the horticulture industry's future success.

Open to students from Taranaki who have completed a degree and intend to pursue further post-graduate study.

Bowler Ravensdown Scholarship in Soil Science

Closing Date: 10 Mar 2025

Open to postgraduate students at Massey University studying soil science full time.

Noeleen Olson Horticulture Masters Scholarship

Closing Date: 10 Mar 2025

Open to students enrolled in a master's degree in horticultural science at Massey University.

John Hodgson Pastoral Science Scholarship

Closing Date: 10 Mar 2025

Open to candidates who want to or are undertaking research in the field of or related to pastoral science at postgraduate level.

MPI Postgraduate Science Scholarship

Closing Date: 11 Mar 2025

Open to postgraduate students undertaking Masters or PhD degrees, in a research area relevant to, and meeting capability needs of MPI or the primary industries.

FAR Postgraduate Scholarship (Massey)

Open to students undertaking postgraduate research with a topic in an area relating to the New Zealand arable farming sector.

FAR Postgraduate Scholarship (Lincoln)

Southern Wood Council Forest Products Scholarship

Closing Date: 17 Mar 2025

Open to students who have completed their first/intermediate year and be enrolled in the second year/first professional year of a B.For.Sc or B.E.(Hons)(For) degree at the University of Canterbury.

FMG Agriculture Scholarship

Closing Date: 31 Mar 2025

Each year we help two promising agriculture students starting their first year at university. FMG's agriculture scholarship provides.

If you're passionate about starting your career in the agriculture industry, can maintain a B- average, and are looking to study one of the following areas (or something similar) with an agriculture focus, apply now.

Murray King Montford Trimble Foundation Scholarship

Closing Date: 31 Mar 2025

Open to Wairarapa students currently undertaking a degree in soil conservation, sustainable land management, integrated catchment, or natural ecosystem management at a New Zealand university.

Craigmore Sustainables Postgraduate Scholarship

Closing Date: 31 Mar 2025

Open to postgraduate students (Honours/Masters, PhD) enrolled at Lincoln University, with an agriculture or agricultural area research project.

John Reeves Memorial Scholarship

Closing Date: 31 Mar 2025

Open to students entering their final year of study towards a Bachelor of Agricultural Science with Honours degree at Lincoln University.

Sparling Environmental Travel Award

Closing Date: 31 May 2025

Open to post graduate students at the University of Waikato undertaking research in the areas of environmental studies, natural sciences, or agricultural sciences.

David Levene Foundation Bursaries

Closing Date: 1 Jun 2025

Open to students undertaking full-time study towards a Bachelors of AgriScience, AgriCommerce, Science, Information Science or Technology at Massey University, and who would otherwise be unable to study due to financial hardship.

UC School of Forestry High Achievers Award (Incoming First-Year Scholarship)

Closing Date: 15 Aug 2025

The purpose of this scholarship is to recognise and support high-achieving students entering their first year of the Bachelor of Forestry Science (BForSc) degree programme at the University of Canterbury.
Number of Scholarships available annually: Up to five, with one of the scholarships being reserved for a Māori or Pasifika student

Helen Graham Charitable Trust (in conjunction with The Thomas Bevan Family Charitable Trust)

Closing Date: 1 Sep 2025
